Course Content

    During this two year course, students will learn how to work with depression, anger, anxiety, shame, trauma, loss and bereavement, eating disorders, substance abuse, psychosis and personality disorders.

    Applicants need to have completed the CCTS Christian Counselling Model and Practice OCN Level 3 course or equivalent before applying for the Level 4 Course.

    By the end of the course students will be able to:

    * Apply the core 5-circle/CCTS model to various specialist areas e.g. depression, anxiety disorders, shame issues, trauma, drug and alcohol misuse etc
    * Demonstrate their use of the model through group supervision
    * Compare the core model with other counselling models
    * Discuss issues such as diversity and abuse of power
    * Use creative techniques, sand tray, music and art within counselling
    * Evaluate the purpose and use of supervision
    * Explore current issues in Counselling Practice and research

    Additional Work
    • Course participants will be required to engage in directed reading, journalling and written assignments for assessment. This will amount on average to 4-6 hours per week
    • Students will be required to to arrange their own personal counselling at their own expense
    • Students will be required to arrange a suitable placement, in order to log 100 hours of counselling practice under supervision
    • Any costs incurred through the individual counselling and placement supervision are in addition to the course fees
